Rio carnival
On Wednesday 20 April our residents and staff at The Old Downs Residential Care Home joined in with a celebration of the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro.
We started the day off by decorating our Home with Brazilian flag bunting and making colourful carnival-inspired masks and headbands.
Later in the afternoon our ladies and gents enjoyed fruit kebabs, with refreshing coconut, sour cream and tropical cocktails. Everyone had fun dressing up and dancing to carnival music. Great fun!
Birthday wishes for the Queen
Tuesday 21 of April marked Queen Elizabeth’s 96th birthday, so we organised a special cream tea party to celebrate the special occasion.
We served egg and cress sandwiches, coronation chicken sandwiches and scones with clotted cream and strawberries. We toasted her majesty with glasses of Prosecco.
Our residents thoroughly enjoyed the celebration and each other’s company.
