On Sunday 22 January a group of our residents and staff joined in to celebrate Chinese New Year here at The Old Downs Residential Care Home.
To mark the occasion, we organised a special buffet in the afternoon, when our residents enjoyed:
- Prawn crackers with sweet and chilli sauce
- Vegetable and chicken gyoza with a soy dipping sauce
- Vegetable and lamb spring rolls
- Fortune cookies
We also ran an arts and crafts session where we made our own dragon. Everyone drew around their hands and then cut the paper hands out to create the colourful tail of the dragon, which looked fantastic!
We all had a great time – happy Chinese New Year!
Helping hands
Over the weekend, some of our ladies also joined in for ‘Helping hands’ here at The Old Downs, when they kindly assisted our Kitchen Staff to peel carrots for lunch.
One of our ladies Yvonne, commented “Anything I can help with? I enjoy helping!”
