On Wednesday 7 February a group of our residents from The Old Downs Residential Care Home visited Charles Dickens’ House in Rochester, to celebrate Charles Dickens’ Day.
Dickens Day was established in 1986 by the eminent Professor Michael Slater to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the publication of Dickens’ first novel, The Pickwick Papers, in 1836.
Our residents enjoyed seeing Dickens’ House and the learning about the history of it. This was followed by tea, cake and chatter.
Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the trip and we look forward to doing it again soon.
