Last Friday, we hosted our annual Macmillan Coffee Afternoon here at The Old Downs Residential Care Home. It felt important for us to do our part in support of such a vital cause, which makes such a difference to so many families.
Our tables were decked in green and white decorations, and soon filled with a delicious spread of bakes – banana cake, Victoria sponge, jam roly poly, Swiss roll, cupcakes, lemon drizzle, fudge cake and more. With plenty of tempting treats to enjoy, everyone tucked in with cups of tea and coffee, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere.
As we shared the afternoon together, conversations turned to personal stories of those who have bravely faced their own battles, or who continue to support loved ones. It was a moving reminder of why these events matter so deeply.
Macmillan Coffee Afternoons hold a special place in people’s hearts, and we are proud to be part of this national tradition. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who gave so generously to support such a meaningful cause.
