Keeping active and refreshed at The Old Downs Residential Care Home

Ball games

Recently, our residents at The Old Downs Residential Care Home have been really loving ball games.

They enjoy seated basketball and everyone is always in stitches trying to get the balls in the net – we must admit, we spend more time giggling than scoring!

Another popular pastime is our parachute game, which is so versatile; we can use balloons or balls on it and can also play it with various sized groups too. Another game which brings a lot of laughter with it. It keeps us all active!

Frozen treats

With the temperature ramping up recently, we have been trying some different methods to keep cool.

Our residents have been trying a variety of cold delights over the last few weeks including various ice lollies, ice creams, milkshakes, fruit juices and refreshing fizzy drinks. The ice lollies have been going down a treat and we’ve have had a wide variety to choose from – Fabs, rockets, ice cream splits, Cornettos, mini milks. You name it and our residents have had it!

There is nothing quite like an ice lolly on a hot day; delicious, refreshing and hydrating all in one!
