Residents enjoy springtime activities at The Old Downs Residential Care Home

Our residents got involved in some Easter crafts and some chocolatey Easter baking during the Easter week here at The Old Downs Residential Care Home. We also held our own Easter raffle (with some edible prizes!) and of course, we couldn’t miss out on an Easter Egg hunt for our ladies and gents!

On Tuesday 23 April we celebrated St George’s Day with some red and white arts and crafts – our residents made their own St George’s flags using red tissue paper. Later in the day, they thoroughly enjoyed a scrumptious afternoon tea together, surrounded by St George flag bunting and wearing celebratory hats. We think St George would have approved!

We have also recently welcomed Creative Mojo to our Home, who came in to help our residents create an art piece entitled ‘Spirit of Spring‘.

Creative Mojo provide an all-inclusive craft experience and it’s wonderful to see everyone getting involved and thriving from the creative atmosphere. Our ladies and gents painted individual butterflies, flowers and heart shapes, which were combined to form a colourful collage, which we are thrilled to display.

We’ve also been giving the Great British Bake Off a run for its money, as our residents work together to make a lemon meringue pie last week.

One of our new residents, Fred, use to be a Chef and often made lemon meringue pie for his wife, so we were in good hands! As you can see, he really enjoyed getting the opportunity to make it again. Everyone really enjoyed tasting the fruits of their labour – so delicious!
