Sensory activities and scone making at The Old Downs Residential Care Home

We had a wonderful day of activities here at The Old Downs Residential Care Home on Wednesday 20 January.

Sensory fun

In the morning, our residents thoroughly enjoyed our sensory smell and touch activity when they got to smell different scents and touch a variety of textures. We had a range of herbs and spices to delight our noses, and different textures – from playdough to pasta – for our hands to experience.

Activities like these are lots of fun and allow everybody to get involved. They are also a great way to stimulate conversation!

Afternoon tea

In the afternoon we held a scone making session, which we all enjoyed. We took our time to roll out and cut the scones and after we had baked them, we hosted an afternoon tea where we serve them on cake stands (they looked very professional!).

Our residents enjoyed them with clotted cream, jam and a nice hot cup of tea. Perfect!
