National Dessert Day
We love celebrating national days here at The Old Downs Residential Care Home – and National Dessert Day was a particularly delicious one. Any excuse for sweet treats, and we’re there! Our residents enjoyed an irresistible spread that included apple pie, chocolate eclairs, cheesecakes, fairy cakes, doughnuts, and more. What began as a treat trolley soon evolved into a full afternoon tea, complete with chatter and smiles!
The atmosphere was filled with warmth as everyone enjoyed a relaxed afternoon of good company, music, and a slice (or two!) of something sweet. Events like these are wonderful reminders of how simple pleasures can bring people together – and a shared love of desserts is certainly a perfect icebreaker here at our Home.
Hartley in autumn
We’re so lucky to be surrounded by the beautiful Hartley countryside, which looks even more stunning during the autumn months. The orange leaves, crisp air, and water droplets on the grass create a wonderfully tranquil atmosphere for our residents to enjoy. Many of them continue to take regular walks through our gardens and local area — we just wrap up a little warmer and take a flask with us!
The fresh air and changing scenery offer a moment of calm and connection with nature. It’s important to us that our residents have the opportunity to stay active and take in the beauty outside. We love living in Hartley and take all the opportunities the different seasons offer us.
