During the run up to Christmas, the festive spirit was truly alive and well here at The Old Downs Residential Care Home. Over the past few weeks, our Home has been filled with joy and seasonal cheer, and we were delighted to welcome some very special visitors from our local Primary School.
The children came along to perform a wonderful carol concert for our residents and it was an experience that touched everyone’s hearts. Their beautiful singing filled the room with Christmas magic and it was clear just how much it meant to our residents. Many were smiling from ear to ear, with a few happy tears shed along the way, as the carols brought back cherished memories of Christmases past. The children’s voices reminded our residents of when their own children were young, standing proudly on stage and singing in school Christmas concerts.
After their fantastic performance, the children took time to chat with our residents, sharing stories and plenty of festive goodwill. These moments of connection were just as special as the singing itself, creating a lovely warm atmosphere.
We’ve felt incredibly fortunate this festive season, as we have welcomed many groups of children into our Home. Their visits have brought so much happiness to our residents, and we are truly grateful to be part of such a kind and welcoming community. Moments like these remind us just how special the Christmas season is at The Old Downs.
