The big day may have been four sleeps away, but for all of us at The Old Downs Residential Care Home it had arrived early – and it was time for our annual Christmas party.
The morning of the party was all go for the Recreation and Well-Being Team – balloons, streamers, party hats, banners, treat bags, hampers, balloon arches at the ready! Soon, our dining room became a festive wonderland with decorations everywhere. We had a table displaying the hampers, goody bags and photo prompts!
Attendees started arriving and soon our singer for the party, Alex was set up. Alex sang a medley of Christmas classics to well loved hits of the decades and he soon had everyone out of their seats; the dance floor was packed out!
Our Catering Team laid on a fabulous spread for everyone to enjoy. Residents, families and team members enjoyed finger sandwiches, vol au vaunts, mini pizzas, mozzarella sticks, spring rolls, sausage rolls, bread sticks, crackers, dips, cheeses, grapes and more! For those with a sweet tooth, profiteroles, cupcakes, cookies, gâteaux and more! A special thank you to all of our Catering Team.
It was photos galore over the course of the day with our festive photo booth! It was a day we didn’t want to forget in a hurry.
It was soon time for the raffle to be drawn, there were four stunning hampers up for grabs; inside were a selection of booze, chocolates, bath products, cozy slippers, teddy bears, festive head bands, puzzles, biscuits and lots more.
In first place was our lovely John and his family winning the biggest hamper! Second place was our Mavis and her family. Third place was our amazing, Jo from Domestics, who won a stunning hamper and very deservingly so! Fourth place was our lovely Audrey and her family; inside the hamper was a fluffy monkey and Audrey was so made up, it brought a tear to her eye. Well done everyone!
We ended a perfect party with a boozy tipple – if we didn’t feel merry before, we certainly did after!
