Our residents at The Old Downs Residential Care Home had a wonderful time last week celebrating National Jam Tart Day in our much-loved Cooking Club. Together, they made their very own tarts completely from scratch. They worked side by side and helped one another through each step, from rolling out the pastry to cutting shapes and pressing little pastry circles into the tins.
The finishing touch was choosing from four delicious flavours of jam to fill their creations – strawberry, raspberry, apricot and blackcurrant – with each resident picking their favourite.
The tarts came out of the oven looking and smelling delightful, and everyone agreed they tasted just as good. Our residents enjoyed their freshly baked jam tarts with a well-deserved cup of tea, sharing smiles and plenty of compliments all round. The afternoon combined teamwork, baking, and lots of joy.
A big well done to our ladies for their fantastic efforts – the results were scrumptious!
