Last week, our lovely residents were treated to a heartwarming visit from a local school group, whose Reception children brought festive cheer to us all here at The Old Downs Residential Care Home.
The visit began with the children gathering to listen to a Christmas story read by their teachers, helping them settle in and get to know our residents. Afterwards, they delighted everyone with a beautiful carol concert, performing a selection of classic Christmas songs – complete with homemade musical instruments! Our residents couldn’t resist joining in with the singing, creating a joyful chorus that filled our Home with Christmas spirit.
The children had also prepared handmade Christmas gifts, including thoughtful cards, a festive hamper and a handcrafted wreath. They handed out their gifts to our residents, who were touched by the kindness and creativity of the little ones.
After all the singing and excitement, everyone enjoyed refreshments with drinks and plenty of biscuits to share. It was a truly magical afternoon filled with smiles, singing and a few happy tears of joy! We’re so grateful to the children and their teachers for spreading such warmth and festive spirit.
